DenaCare Collective
Founded by Aja Brown and Michael Tubbs, the Dena Care Collective is a groundbreaking initiative launched by End Poverty in California (EPIC) and FORWARD to revolutionize disaster relief and long-term recovery. In response to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, which have displaced thousands of families and businesses, this collective was created to cut through the red tape and ensure aid reaches those who need it most – especially families living in Altadena and Pasadena’s historic Black communities – quickly, equitably, and transparently.
Unlike traditional relief efforts that focus solely on immediate donations, the Dena Care Collective provides —
Direct Aid Delivery
Long-term Case Management
Common Application for Centralized Resource
Sustainable Recovery Solution
NEWS FEATURES:
“I am deeply honored to be a partner in this dynamic coalition, along with many others committed to the road of recovery. Restoration begins with stabilizing and supporting our most vulnerable community members and that’s exactly what this effort is designed to do. “
-Aja Brown
“The climate disaster has upended lives, and recovery must be about more than just charity and rebuilding what was lost—it must advance economic justice, be community-driven, and create a more resilient future for impacted families. EPIC is proud to be part of the Dena Care Collective, ensuring community voices are heard, real needs are met, solutions are implemented, and policies create lasting stability for families. We believe those closest to the pain and destruction are closest to the solutions, so we are listening and fighting for them.”
