Aja Brown is an emerging leader in government technology, known for her significant contributions to community and economic revitalization. As the leader of Impact at FORWARD, Aja combines her expertise in technology, strategy, and government to drive market innovations that promote equity and efficiency. She leads FORWARD's Impact and Innovation Team, targeting market sector growth, new solution exploration, brand growth, and strategic communications, alongside focusing on social impact. Throughout her 20-year tenure in government, notably as Mayor of Compton, CA from 2013 to 2021, Aja demonstrated her ability to enact change, especially through adversity with limited resources.
She spearheaded the "12-point Vision for Compton" Strategic Plan, spurring economic growth, attracting over $1B in new investments, and cutting crime rates by 60%. This work, widely recognized by media globally, set a benchmark for community development and transformation.
As a champion of people-centered transformation, Aja focuses on investing in the well-being of youth and families. She established one of the nation's largest Guaranteed Basic Income pilots through the Compton Community Development Corporation that she co-founded.

THE FOUNDATION
Van and Aja began their life-changing adventure together 23 years ago. Two weeks into their romance, Van confidently proclaimed to Aja that she was destined to be his wife. Though taken aback and surprised by this pronouncement, Aja sought guidance from the Lord through prayer. That very night, she received a confirming dream, revealing that Van was indeed her future husband and God revealed many of the plans He had for their lives.
While Aja was finishing her final year of high school with her eyes set on attending the University of Southern California (USC), Van was at a community college, striving for a football scholarship. His hard work paid off, and two years later, God graced him to join Aja at USC, later to become a two-time national champion.
